In the weeks following the break-up of a relationship, Dave, to
his horror, discovers he has contracted a rare condition known as
avianism: he has begun to sing like a bird. In the society he lives
in, avianism is considered taboo and sufferers quickly become victims
of prejudice and even violence. In the past, they were thought to be
possessed by evil spirits. A colleague of Dave's ex suggests a
clinic, run by the mysterious and charismatic Dr Trager. Almost from
the beginning, he has doubts about Trager's regime although he sees
no option but to go along with it all. The future looks uncertain...
